About the Consortium
The Obesity Consortium of Minnesota was established to facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration and foster cooperation in obesity research, education, and outreach efforts at the University of Minnesota. The Consortium links three obesity centers at the University.

Obesity Prevention Center

 

Obesity Prevention Center
The Obesity Prevention Center, established through the Healthy Foods, Healthy
Lives Presidential Initiative, supports 1) research on both the causes and prevention
of obesity, 2) educational offerings at the undergraduate and graduate level, 3) community outreach through educational programs and resources, and active involvement in the development of public health policies to reduce obesity.

Minnesota Obesity Center

 

Minnesota Obesity Center
The Minnesota Obesity Center is an NIDDK funded Center with a mission to find
ways to prevent weight gain, assist principal investigators in conducting relevant research, stimulate new interest and collaborations in research into obesity, eating disorders, and energy metabolism, and support education in obesity and eating disorders in the academic and public communities.
Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer (TREC) Centers Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer (TREC)
The Center for Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer is an NCI funded Center to address questions about the etiology, prevention, and treatment of obesity in youth and families, and to explore biological pathways the may link obesity
to cancer.
