About the Obesity Consortium
The Obesity Consortium of Minnesota was established to facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration and foster cooperation in obesity research, education, and outreach efforts at the University of Minnesota. The Consortium links three obesity centers at the University.

Obesity Prevention Center

Obesity Prevention Center
The Obesity Prevention Center, established through the Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Presidential Initiative, supports 1) research on both the causes and prevention of obesity, 2) educational offerings at the undergraduate and graduate level, 3) community outreach through educational programs and resources, and active involvement in the development of public health policies to reduce obesity.

Minnesota Obesity Center

Minnesota Obesity Center
The Minnesota Obesity Center is an NIDDK funded Center with a mission to find ways to prevent weight gain, assist principal investigators in conducting relevant research, stimulate new interest and collaborations in research into obesity, eating disorders, and energy metabolism, and support education in obesity and eating disorders in the academic and public communities.
Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute
The Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute, originating as a UMN Presidential Initiative in 2003, increases and sustains the University’s impact in the interdisciplinary arena of food, agriculture, and health by building capacity in research, learning, and community engagement.
